Martins Coupons and Deals for week of 10/17

Here are the coupons from the coupon machine at Martins this week:
  • Save $.50 on your next purchase of $7 from our Health and Beauty Care Department
  • Save $.50 on your next purchase of any Book or Magazine
  • Save $1.00 on your next purchase of $10 or more from our Meat Department
  • Save $.50 on your next purchase of $5 or more from our Carry Out Cafe
Here are a few deals I've noticed at Martins for this week:
  • Crest Toothpaste with Scope is on sale for $2.00, there were $2.00 off any crest with scope coupons in the 9/11 SS.  Makes for FREE toothpaste.  If you combined this with the above HBA coupon from Martins, it could turn into a money maker.  Also, this is part of the Buy 4, save $3.00 on the back page, so HUGE MONEY MAKER... HERE'S HOW - Buy 4 ($8.00), Use 4 coupons ($8.00 off), Use $.50 off coupon from Martins (MM of $.50) and then get $3.00 off instantly for buying 4 (MM of $3.50).  Make sure you have extra items in your cart to cover the overage.

  • Purina One Dog Food is on sale for $5.99.  Use the $4.00 off coupon from the 10/9 SS and pay only $1.99.  And if you have 3 of these coupons (I don't), it is part of the buy 3, save $3.00 from the back page.  So you would pay $2.97 for 3 bags of dog food.

  • Egglands Best Eggs are on sale for $1.88.  This is a better deal than I got two weeks ago with my Martins e-coupon.  Use the $.55 coupon (doubles to $1.10) from the 10/2 SS and load the Martins e-coupon for $.60.  Pay only $.18 for a dozen eggs - WHOLLY COW!!!!  Even if you already used the e-coupon like me, still you only pay $.78 for a dozen eggs - wholly cow!
So, I'm gonna go out and test these deals later, check back for my updates!!!

Grocery Store Match Ups... Week of 10/16

Here are sites on where to find the best deals on grocery stores in the county:
  • Martins - Thanks Livingrichwithcoupons - This states that it is for Stop and Shop but Stop and Shop, Giant and Martins are all owned by the same company and she does an excellent job.  Don't really see anything super great.
  • ACME - Thanks FamilyFrugalFun. Some good deals of toothpaste, potatoes and General Mills products.
  • Food Lion - Thanks afrugalchick.  Coke 2 litters are on sale for $1.33.
  • Redners - Thanks forthemommas.  Eugghh.

Coupon policy's vary widely from place to place and from state to state.  Make sure you know what your store's policy is and keep a copy of it with you if you can find a printable version of it.

Thursday's at the Mall... 10/13 edition

Love Thursday's at the Mall...

Today, I took Little G to JCPenny's to get her Halloween pictures and her 2nd birthday pictures done.  I can't believe she will be 2 soon.  Time sure does fly...

Anyways, I love getting my pictures done here (for the most part).  You can schedule an appointment online with all of the information and what your ideas are for your pictures.  I've always had a good experience (except when G isn't on her best behavior) and for the most part the employees always have great ideas, props and seem to know what they are doing.  It takes less than two weeks for them to come in and they are great quality photos.  Don't worry about a baby that won't smile on Que - that is G.  Somehow they seem to always get at least one great photo.

The best part is the price - FREE SITTING FEE, FREE 8 X 10 AND $3.99 SHEETS! (with a coupon of course).  I use to take G every month or so when she was a baby, now not so frequently, but it is so much fun to look back and see how much she has changed.  So where do you get these coupons?  Look in the coupon inserts, look in magazines, check your mail and look on the JCPenny Portrait website.  Spend about $30 and get a lifetime of memories.

Here are some of the pitfalls and advice from me on how to avoid them:

  1. Schedule your appointment first thing in the morning or right after the employee lunch break.  G is horrible at waiting and it seems as though they are always running behind.  I can see why, sometimes it takes forever to get a child to cooperate.
  2. As far as I know, these aren't highly qualified, novice photographers with the most modern, current, up to date equipment - however, they do a nice job with what they have.  If you are expecting perfection and expertise, maybe a private photographer would do better.
  3. Stick to your guns (budget) about what you came to order.  They will try and sell you when you are viewing your pictures by creating beautiful collages, black and white pictures, invitations, cards, etc.  They have to create something from each category before they can let you pick your pictures, so let them create them and then just pass on them.  They tend to run anywhere from $10 to $20 per picture extra.
  4. If you are even considering Holiday pictures, do it early and do it first thing in the morning.  It becomes a zoo in the portrait studio even at open.
