Cheap chicken at ACME

Through Monday,  the 24th, you can get boneless, skinless chicken breast for only $1.69/lb.  This is definitely a stock up price.  You may need to browse through the packages for a little.   I find that they tend to leave a little more skin and fat on than normal and who wants to pay for that?

Pick up some asparagus while you're there.  Only $.99/lb.

Dinner is served.

My Last Minute Trip....

Today I had a mission...
Pick up a few deals that end this week and before the snow comes (if it comes at all, you never know)... So, I ran to Oxford, PA and went to CVS, ACME, Rite Aid, Walgreens and Martins.  I know, a lot of stops but short lists and they are all right around the same area so decent on gas as well.  I spent $24.35 out of pocket for $81.91 worth of merchandise.  I also got back $5.00 ECB's from CVS and $6.00 Register Rewards from Walgreens to use for next week.  So really, if you count that, I only spent $13.35.  Either way you look at it, good deals and all stuff I will use.
At CVS, I picked up the Diapers I needed, got a great deal stacking coupons, I paid $9.99 for a big pack of diapers.  I also picked up the greeting cards (free after ECB's), Kettle Chips (I had a free coupon), Ivory Soap and the Carmex Lip Gloss.

At ACME, I had a $2.00 off produce coupon that expired today, so they are running the awesome buck a bag sale, so I picked up 2 bags of produce - FREE.  Plus I was looking for Produce, Win-Win for me.

At Rite Aid, John Frida Hair Color (free coupon) Up2U gum, and some V-day Candy for the hubby.  Also, they had stuffing on clearance for $.57, can't beat it, unless I had a coupon too, which I didn't.

At Walgreens, I picked up the South Beach Diet Bars (Free after register rewards) and 3 Carmex Hand Lotions.

At Martins, I went back for the buy 3, get 1 free deal.  I also went to pick up some more Pup-Peronis, but somebody beat me to it.  Shelves were clear.  No worries though, I picked up a rain check and will get them next week.  Hopefully the Catalina will still be going on next week.  I hope I helped someone get some great treats for their dog.

You might be wondering how my $30 Challenge is going for the week, ughh, not great.  I could blame it all on my wonderful husband, but I won't.  We don't see eye-to-eye on the value of SAVING money.  He is good for the economy and I am not.

Thursdays at the.... GROCERY STORE

Change of plans, since I went to Milburn's on Tuesday with my walking friends, we skipped the mall today....

Instead, Little G and I celebrated Sweat Pants Day (at least in our house) and went to the grocery stores to pick up some deals.  Here's what we got!!!
Here's the breakdown:
Total Before Coupons at Both ACME and Martins - $184.53
Total After Coupons at Both ACME and Martins - $54.21
Savings of 70% - Not my best, but decent for sure.
55 Items = about $1.00 per item

I had coupons for everything except for the fruit, the Deli Thins Bread, Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix, Diet Coke and the lunch meat, however all of it was on sale and made for other deals.
  • The Pepperidge Farms Deli Thins were $2.99 at Martins but I discovered that you got $1.00 off any pre-package lunch meat with purchase, which I had already picked up and was in my shopping cart.  The bread package also had a $1.00 off an Campbell's Select soup coupon attached to it, so I went and picked up the cheapest can for $1.67 - so $.67 and I'll eat it for sure.
  • The General Mills Cereal deal at Martins turned out really well, here's what you can do.  Trix and Lucky Charms are on Sale 2 for $5.00.  When you buy 4, you get $4 off instantly and a coupon for $4.50 towards a gallon of milk.  Go here and print 2 '$1.10 off 2 boxes of GM cereal'.  So after you buy 4, that's $10, minus your $4 off instantly, and your coupons of $2.10 = $3.90 for 4 boxes of cereal (my stock up price is anything under $1.00) PLUS you get a Catalina for a free gallon of milk up to $4.50.  Milk doesn't cost more than $4.00 at Martins and the extra will towards the rest of your order so make sure you have extra items in your cart. In the end, it's a money maker of a deal - can't pass it up.
  • If you read about the Gold Peak Iced Tea deals before - They're back.  Go here and like them on facebook to print out 2 $1.00 off coupons for the single serve size.  These are both on sale for $1.00 at Martins and ACME.  In Martins, they are located in the back by the pre-packaged cheese, subs, deli area in the cooler.  In ACME, they are in the Iced Tea aisle.  FREE TEA!!
  • The toothpaste deal at Martins that I talked about earlier in the week, worked great except for the instant $3.00 coming off.  No problem, customer service gave me $3.00 cash back.  Check out the details here.
  • At ACME, Crest Toothpaste is on sale for $1.00.  Use the $1.00 off coupons from the last P & G insert and get you some free toothpaste - BY THE WAY, NEVER PAY MONEY FOR TOOTHPASTE!!
  • The Eggland's Best Eggs were still a great deal at $.78 per dozen even without the e-coupon from Martins (I previously used it and I guess it doesn't load again).  Stock up price for sure, I mean, as much as you can stock up on eggs.
  • Also at ACME - Lloyd's BBQ is on sale for $3.99 (normally $6.99).  I used 2 coupons for $1.00 off from the 8/28 SS to pay only $2.99 a piece.  Easy dinners for Mama!!!
Things to remember, ACME deals end on Thursdays, so if your interested, do it today.  Martins only doubles 1 like coupon per transaction, so break them up to get the best savings.

If you have any questions, let me know and I'll try and help you out!!!

How to Shop at ACME and My Deals of the Week- UPDATE

Here is some information on how to shop and receive the best deals at ACME (one of my favorite stores):

File:Acme Markets logo.jpg

Location/Hours:  ACME is located in Elkton (open 7am- 11pm), Oxford, PA (open 7am - 10pm) and Newark, DE (open 6am - 11pm).

Sales Dates:  The sales ad runs from Friday to Thursday.

Website: View Sales Flyer, Print Coupons, Order Food, Load coupons onto Store Card.  Go here to print coupons and load e-coupons onto your store card.  E-coupons are under the avenue program.

Coupon Policy:  Click here to view ACME's coupon policy.  Here's what is important: ACME will double coupons up to $.99 (example:  a $.75 coupon will double to $1.50, a $1.00 coupon will remain $1.00).  You can stack an ACME coupon with a manufacture coupon.  You can use Internet coupons under $5.00 value but cannot use competitor coupons.  UNLIKE MARTINS, FOOD LION AND REDNERS, ACME WILL DOUBLE MORE THAN 1 OF THE SAME COUPON IN THE SAME TRANSACTION - THIS IS AWESOME!

ACME often puts out its own coupon books and they are usually really easy to find (by the register, by the front door, at customer service).  Right now, ACME has a coupon book out called 'fresh for fall' and it has over $10.00 in coupons you can use:

  • Save $1.00 off the purchase of any variety of two or more ACME Brand flavored coffee creamers, 15 oz and larger.
  • Save $1.00 on any 3 packages of Dole Fruit Crisp
  • Save $1.00 off one or more 32oz jars of ACME Brand Mayonnaise with the purchase of any ACME Brand Tub lunch meat, 7oz and larger.
  • Save $1.00 on any two Ziploc Brand products
  • Save $1.25 when you buy any two Skippy Peanut Butter products (15oz. or larger)

  • Save $1.00 on any one bag of Tyson Frozen Breaded Chicken
  • Save $1.00 on any 2 7.5 - 8 oz 8-pack mini sleeks or 2 12oz 8-pack bottles of Sprite or Sprite Zero
  • Save $1.00 on any one bag of Tyson Grilled and Ready frozen product
  • Save $1.00 on your next Essential Everyday product ($1.00 or greater retail price) SHOULD MAKE FOR FREE PRODUCTS
  • Save $1.00 off any variety of homelife liquid laundry detergent 50 fl oz and larger.
  • Save $1.00 off the purchase of 2 Clorox Disinfecting Wipes (35ct or larger)
  • Save $1.00 when you buy your next issue of Real Simple Magazine
All of these coupons expire 9/30/11.

In addition to ACME coupons, you can sign up for the ACME email and instantly get a $5.00 off $25.00 coupon to use.  That's major savings right away.  Use that money towards meat, produce or things that don't normally go on sale or have a coupon.  DON'T FORGET TO DO THIS!!!!

ACME will email you once a week with the upcoming sales flyer and ideas for what you might be interested as well as coupons available for items in the store.

Gift Card Deal for ACME - Free $10 ACME Gift Card

Here's a good deal running at ACME this week through Thursday 9/17:

Purchase $100.00 in gift cards (excluding MasterCard, American Express and ACME) get a $10 gift card for ACME.  So here's some ideas for you to make $10 extra for your grocery bill...

1.  Get a Gas gift card to somewhere you can buy gas.  You're gonna get gas anyways right?  FREE MONEY FOR GROCERIES.

2.  Get a gift card for upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, wedding showers, etc.  You gotta buy them anyways right?  FREE MONEY FOR GROCERIES.

3.  Get a gift card for like Lowe's or Home Depot for home improvement stuff.  You know you'll use it when something breaks or you build something.  FREE MONEY FOR GROCERIES.

4.  Get a gift card to a restaurant (It's like money, so you can use a coupon with it).  Double Whammy!!! FREE MONEY FOR GROCERIES.

Now here's a few extra tips:  you have to buy $100.00 worth, so mix and match and get a couple different ones.  Just make sure they are included.  Buy them in Delaware, and then you don't have to pay sales tax.  (Am I allowed to say that?) Oh wait, I don't know if you pay sales tax on gift cards or if it is already included... whatever you do, you will get FREE MONEY FOR GROCERIES.

If you want more information, it is on the front cover of the sales add, or you can view it online here.  Do you have any other good ideas?
